What every Digital Marketer does is something your nonprofit needs to know about. Why? Because all your Digital Marketing requirements are available free. Solutions to almost anything you can think of such as growing your email list, boosting your social media posts or driving traffic to your website are available and you can access them at no cost.
It may seem too good to be true but here is why this is the case and how you can access this free information.
Every digital marketer wants to seem like an expert. So how do we achieve this? One of the easiest ways to show you our knowledge is by giving it away. Yes, giving it away free. There are tons of us digital marketers out there ranging from the big and well know (such as Neil Patel and Larry Kim both with hundreds of thousands of followers) to the smaller players like, well me, but also many other such as (Muffin Marketing and CognetiveSEO). And by the way, I have no affiliation with any of these guys, they just happen to be some great online experts that I have found who give away a ton of value.
So why is this so important for nonprofits? Well, like many organisations, nonprofits have to operate on a shoe string budget. Despite the importance of it, there never seems to be enough money in the budget to spend on Online Marketing. So this is the solution, find a few Digital Marketers you are happy with, and follow them or sign up to their blogs.
Every article these guys publish will be packed with free advice that you can use. OK, perhaps not all if it is relevant, for example you might be interested in ranking better on Google, and some articles might be about improving your social media strategy. But that’s OK, just ignore that one and wait for the article that can help you.
Whatever you are interested in or need help with, advice on that topic is almost always available free. Let’s say you need to increase your donations for a campaign you are running. So you set up a page on our website describing the campaign, get a nice big colorful DONATE HERE button. But nothing happens, no one goes to this page and your donations remain the same.
Well in this case, just go into Google and type in “How to get more visitors to my website”. As you can see in my screen shot below, this is such a common question that as I started typing it, Google prompted the rest.
This returned a ton of results and of the top 8, look how many free tips you can use to drive visitors to your page. If you go onto these pages you will see most of them have blogs or podcasts.
So what is the cost of this to you? Nothing, all it costs is providing your email address. Once you provide your email you will normally find that you will receive regular (it is unlikely that you will received loads of emails because NO Digital Marketer wants to be spammy) articles that have great value. If you find you do not get any value from the articles then simply unsubscribe and you won’t hear from the author again. But just a bit of advice, don’t unsubscribe to my blog, because it’s pure gold. 🙂
If you are averse to giving your email address out, there are many options where you can get a free email address so just sign up to one of these and use this as your email address for blog emails.
So now the secret it is out, all digital marketers provide tons of free advice in their area of expertise. No matter what your online strategy is, no matter what you are trying to achieve online, ALL the information you need is freely available online. You just have to look for it.
